Children's Expo Volunteer

The Children's Expo is a parent’s treasure trove for informational, educational, and recreational resources for school-age children. The Expo continues to offer free health screenings by qualified healthcare professionals for children ages 10 yrs. and under.
Volunteers will be expected to help professionals perform children’s health screenings, assist at the welcome table, provide vendor hospitality, and much more.

Opportunity House Volunteer
Feb. 23th 2019
This is a great opportunity for volunteers to learn how non-profits operate on a day-to-day basis!
Volunteers will be pricing, stocking, moving and sorting inventory and learn about accounting in an actual business setting.

Kelley 5K Volunteer

The Kelley 5K’s mission is to employ a fun, social event to promote a more unified, healthy student body while benefiting a local nonprofit aligning with Kelley’s values.
This year we are happy to support the Robert Liu Memorial Fund in the effort to honor a fellow Kelley student by raising money to support the mental health of IU students. Every dollar generated by this race will be directly provided to Robert's foundation.

Hilltop Garden Volunteering

Go green this weekend! There are opportunities to learn about gardening practices and connect with nature at Hilltop Garden & Nature Center. Volunteers are needed to assist with assembling mini-garden kits for local schools. This involves packaging and labeling seed packets, forming clam-shells and bagging soil.

Teacher's Warehouse Volunteer
Feb. 2nd 2019
Come and join CLD as we help out at Teachers Warehouse. As a volunteer, you will be helping them with sorting and re-arranging classroom materials and helping teachers move furniture.
Teachers Warehouse serves the educational and creative needs of children by obtaining donated supplies and equipment from businesses and individuals and distributing them free to teachers for use in schools.

MLK Jr. Volunteer Day

Cry of the Children Thanksgiving Meal

Come volunteer with CLD to cook for Cry of the Children Annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner as they celebrate their 12th year of feeding the hungry.
It takes all of us, whether it’s roasting turkeys, whipping mashed potatoes or serving guests, working side by side to feed those in need within our community.
No cooking experience needed to help out in this event, so come and have some fun!
Soup Tasting Volunteer

Come volunteer with CLD and celebrate this cool weather harvest from field and farm as area chefs showcase their expertise with this versatile comfort food.
Volunteers will assist with setting up soup tasting area, overseeing the chef demonstrations, and distributing samples of different soups.

Fall Into Volunteering

Volunteers will be completing a range of activities throughout the Bloomington community at six different awesome nonprofit organizations.

Bloomington Community Orchard Volunteer
Oct. 20th 2018
Join CLD and help prep the Bloomington Community Orchard for their upcoming Cider Fest.
The orchard serves to provide fruit for the community and to provide educational opportunities to develop the skills of orcharding and harvesting. Every Fall, they hold a Cider Fest where they host the community in festivities including food and cider tasting.
We will be doing work directly in the orchard to help with the maintenance of it. This may include pruning and collecting apples.

Habitat For Humanity Build

Join CLD, other Kelley students, faculty, staff, and Whirlpool executives in the 9th annual 10-day building blitz! Sign-up for a shift, meet new people, learn new skills, and see a local family receive the keys to their new home in a dedication ceremony at the IU vs. Iowa football game! Your job includes insulating the walls, shingling the roof, and much more. No construction experience is needed and you are going to have a lot fun in this project.
Hoosiers Outrun Cancer

Join CLD and help support the 19th running of Bloomington Health Foundation's Hoosiers Outrun Cancer 5K - One of the oldest and largest 5K events in Indiana!
As directional volunteers, you and other CLDers will be stationed along Jordan Ave to direct the runners and walkers, but also to be as a resource for students coming out of the houses along Jordan Ave.

Salvation Army Thrift Store

The Salvation Army Thrift Store sells quality items for a great deal and the proceeds from the Thrift Store are an important way for the Salvation Army to provide support for working families, the hungry, the sick, and the homeless in the Bloomington community.
We will be providing the Thrift Store with assistance in donation processing, store organization, and many other responsibilities.

WonderGarden/Opportunity House Work Days

Do you like to dig, cut, rake, shovel, pull weeds, plant, and work with others? If so, CLD has a great volunteering opportunity for you in WonderLab garden! As volunteers, we will be helping Wonderlab with their gardening. Come wear dirt-friendly shoes and clothes.
Opportunity House is a volunteer-run, non-profit resale store that sells merchandise donated by community members. Come with CLD to help them with pricing and much more!

Junior Achievement
Fall 2018
Are you passionate about working with children and would like to give back to the community? Then Junior Achievement will be a perfect opportunity for you!
As a volunteer for JA, you will work in a pair with another IU student to teach grade school children about topics such as economics, business, entrepreneurship, and community development. You are able to use your knowledge to inspire elementary school students and make an impact in the community, while also honing your leadership and communication skills.
